Q&A

In case I you were left wondering about more precise information about any of the topics I have written about, here is where you may feel free to ask any question about the farm or how we grow the vegetables here, or even about the people who make up One Straw. I will do my best to answer all questions as quickly as possible, and to the best of my ability.

  1. Hi Peter,

This is Philip from Kilpatrick Family Farm in upstate NY. Michael knows Drew and Joan pretty well. We recently transferred our farm blog (www.kilpatrickfamilyfarm.com/blog/) over to wordpress. I stumbled across yours today and I really like some of the things you’ve done with it. One question though, what plugin are you using to link Facebook and WordPress? Which one are you using for your recent comments?

    Best,

    Philip

  2. Peter says:

I am using the facebook link application. I believe that it is done through facebook, but I found it while browsing the WordPress applications.

  3. Thanks Peter – nice to hear that you are enjoying life up here in the north country!

  4. Jennine says:

I was wondering if you have partnered with any of the local food banks so that any extra shares not picked up could be donated there?

Thanks for your thoughtful consideration on this.

    Sincerely,
    Jennine

  5. Peter says:

We donate one share for every ten we drop off. If someone doesn’t like something they can leave it with the donated shares.
Every site donates where it works best for them. Some are food banks or soup kitchens, food pantries, families etc. some sites use them in
auctions to raise money for projects at charter schools. I hope to have on the website next year where all the shares get donated.

  6. Lisa S says:

Are there “seconds” available for purchase for canning/preserving purposes? I’m a CSA member (well worth every penny!!) but would like to purchase seconds/extras of things like berries & tomatoes to can.

  7. Peter says:

We do not usually sell seconds because we usually use them for compost. If you would like to make a special request you could send Joan an email, and then maybe we can set some seconds aside for you.
