Joan and Drew Norman started One Straw Farm in 1985 with the singular goal of being a consistent, trustworthy, and reliable farm in the Mid-Atlantic woodshed. Over the past 40 years we have grown and evolved, but we have maintained our steady commitment to being a certified organic single source grower.

We believe that the backbone of local agriculture is the trust that you put in your farmer and the personal relationships that we build by working together through the seasons. We want you to always know exactly where your food came from and how it was grown. We want you to have a name and a face in mind when you think about your food.

To that end, we promise to only ever sell you vegetables and meat that are grown and raised on our farm. We do not buy veggies at auction and we do not source veggies from other farmers. We know that there are lots of other talented and trustworthy producers in our local foodshed. We are grateful for their contributions and we encourage you to support them. If you are looking for a recommendation on where to find items that are not available in our CSA shares we are more than happy to point you in the right direction.
